The Scholar Career Coaching Mentorship program is designed to give students the opportunity to interact with caring adults like you, who share similar academic and/or career interests.
We provide the training and resources to help each Mentor connect with their Mentees while building a relationship that can last a lifetime. If you are a Professional, Community Leader, or Graduate-level Student, we need you on our volunteer team!
Each mentor is paired with 2-3 mentees for the school year. From October to April, Mentors will spend a minimum of 1-2 hours a week working with their mentee group. Whether it’s helping with setting up goals for the semester, providing organizational tips, creating a resume/cover letter, mock interview prep, exploring college and career options, finding and applying for scholarships, or being a listening ear, our Scholar CC Mentors play the role of a coach, motivator, supporter and friend.
Mentors have the opportunity of scheduling in-person meeting with their mentee(s) during the College and Career Readiness weekly cub sessions on campus.
During the weeks you are not meeting in person, you will meet virtually. You will work with your mentee group to determine your virtual meeting day and time.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week

By simply sharing your own experience you’re able to have a remarkable impact on a person’s future. Giving your time and knowledge to someone who might not have previously had access to your level of expertise can be hugely rewarding, especially when they achieve the results they hoped for.
As a mentor, you get to view and understand a problem through the lens of your mentee. It’s an opportunity to learn about yourself, the way you do the things you do, and areas you may still need to develop. You might also surprise yourself and pick up a few tips and tricks from your mentee that you might not have otherwise thought about!
Our Annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon celebrates the hard work of our student scholars and the dedication of our volunteer mentors. We will be awarding scholarships and college laptops to deserving local high school seniors, celebrating our volunteers, and honoring our committed supporter

Scholar Career Coaching is a proud School District Vendor Serving:
Note: All students attending a Title I School in Palm Beach and Broward County are eligible to be matched with a Mentor and participate in our free Online Workshops and SAT Tutoring.
Mentors support high school students as they prepare for life after graduation.
Mentors meet once a week with their mentee group for a minimum of an hour. During meetings, they help students set goals and participate in College and Career Readiness program activities. The goal is to build trust, offer guidance, and create a supportive environment where students feel heard and empowered.
Our mentees are high school juniors and seniors participating in an afterschool College and Career Readiness Club.
These students are preparing for a variety of paths after graduation, including college, technical school, military service, or entering the workforce. They are curious, motivated, and looking for caring adults to help them navigate these transitions.
Yes, you likely do! Mentoring isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being present.
Students are looking for authentic, consistent adults who listen, offer encouragement, and show patience. If you’re open-minded and willing to grow with your mentees, you could be who we’re looking for. Not sure? Join a mentor info meeting or give us a call to learn more.
Not at all.
While we do value experience, we welcome mentors from all professional and personal backgrounds. If you’re a good listener, flexible, and comfortable discussing post-high school options like college or careers, you might be a great fit.
To be eligible, you must:
Preferred but not required: Bilingual in Haitian-Creole, Spanish, or Portuguese
Mentors and mentees commit 1–2 hours per week for group-style meetings from October to April.
This can include additional one-on-one check-ins if a student needs extra support. We know things come up—just communicate with your group when you have scheduling conflicts. Consistent communication helps build trust.
You’ll work directly with your mentee group to find a time that works for everyone.
In-Person Meetings:
Held on campus during College & Career Readiness Club. Use the program calendar to propose dates and notify the program manager at least 48 business hours in advance to confirm.
Virtual Meetings:
Many mentors meet for one hour weekly as a group, and offer an optional 15–30 minutes of one-on-one support for mentees who want extra time. Some flexibility week-to-week is expected and supported.
That’s okay—our program is designed to be flexible.
Mentors and mentees can adjust virtual meeting times as needed. Just keep communication open, consistent and timely, especially if you need to miss a meeting or change a plan.
At our partner high schools in South Florida during College & Career Readiness Club sessions:
We follow a multi-step process to ensure a great fit for both mentors and students:
1. Application Review
We’ll review your application carefully, considering your background and motivation.
2. Virtual Interview
If your application aligns with our needs and student preferences, we’ll invite you to a short virtual interview to get to know you better.
3. Background Check
If selected to move forward, you’ll complete a Level 2 background screening and send a link to your references.
4. Orientation
Accepted mentors will be invited to a live orientation session in September. If you’re accepted after the live date, you’ll receive a recorded version.
5. Onboarding & Training
After orientation, you’ll receive access to the Mentor Portal (for logging activity notes) and Mentor Resources. You’ll also get a link to a required 2-hour self-paced training through Mentoring Central, which must be completed before being matched.
Yes! You’ll receive:
After you’ve completed the application, interview, background check, and training, we’ll begin the matching process.
We match mentors and mentees based on shared interests, compatible communication styles, relevant experience, and grade preference. Once a match is identified, we speak with the student to ensure they’re comfortable before moving forward.
Sometimes, a match isn’t the right fit. If concerns arise, we encourage open and respectful communication between the mentor, mentee, and program manager. If the relationship can’t be realigned, we’ll support a respectful closure process.
Ending a match isn’t a failure—it’s an opportunity to ensure the best experience for everyone involved. We also gather feedback to help improve our matching process for the future.
